The "Lake Lucy Special" Train

Among the cherished features that once adorned Lake Lucy Park was the "Lake Lucy Special" train that circled the fishing pond, leaving an indelible mark on the park's history. Running on repurposed mine cart tracks, this train is affectionately remembered by visitors and is a testament to the ingenuity of its creator, Raymond Mealy. Powered by a reliable car engine, the train chugged along the scenic route, providing guests with a leisurely and picturesque journey around the fishing pond.  Although the train has since found a new home, the memories of its nostalgic rides persist, weaving a tale of bygone days spent exploring the idyllic surroundings of Lake Lucy Park.

Fishing and Swimming Ponds

In the heart of Lake Lucy, Pennsylvania, two picturesque ponds stand as enduring testaments to the vision and industrious spirit of Raymond Mealy. Using a steam shovel, Mealy personally dug both ponds, crafting them with a dedication that echoes through the years. The first, a serene fishing pond, has become a haven for fisherman, its waters meticulously stocked with trout, catfish, carp, blue gill, crappie, and large bass. Families and locals alike gather by its shores to cast their lines. Adjacent to the pavilion, the second pond serves as a refreshing oasis on scorching summer days. This swimming pond, once a popular retreat for the community, resonated with laughter and splashes as locals sought respite from the heat. As winter descended, the same pond transformed into an ice skating rink, providing year-round enjoyment for generations of Lake Lucy residents. Today, these ponds stand as living reflections of Raymond Mealy's dedication, offering a timeless connection to the community's past and present.
